Oracle and Tik Tok Deal replace Microsoft with Oracle as the new Technology Partner.
(17-9-2020) – TikTok, which claims to have 100 million users in the United States and more than 700 million worldwide, is known for its funny videos of people dancing, singing, or making jokes.Â
The company that owns the Chinese social network application TikTok chose Oracle as the “technology partner” over Microsoft in the United States. The move was influenced by the ban on Tik Tok by the Trump administration, citing security risks. However, TikTok denied that it is a national security risk and filed a lawsuit against the US Administration late last month. Initially, Walmart planned to partner with Microsoft to finalize a purchase agreement for TikTok operations.Â
“Oracle confirms what Secretary Mnuchin said that it is part of the proposal sent by ByteDance in which Oracle will serve as a trusted technology provider,” says the brief statement from the US company based in California.
The deal is historical because it can redefine how the United States and China handle the reciprocal influence of their own tech companies.Â
Microsoft indicated for its part that it was “confident that our proposal would have been good for TikTok users while protecting national security interests.” The company said that it “would have made significant changes to ensure that the service meets the highest standards of security, privacy, online security, and combating misinformation .”
