Xiaomi beats Apple in the ‘wearables’ market: study
Xiaomi is the leading brand when it comes to selling smart dress devices.
The leadership of the Chinese brand in the second quarter of the year was revealed by Strategy Analytics a few days ago and today, Thursday, Canalys reiterates that the manufacturer of the affordable Mi Band continues to be the top distributor of wearables worldwide.
According to the analyst’s findings, Xiaomi distributed 3.5 million units during the three months from April to June, surpassing Fitbit – 3.3 million units – and Apple – 2.7 million units – in the same period.
The highlight of the quarter, beyond the success of Xiaomi, is that Fitbit fell 34 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
Canalys expects that the second half of the year will be to shoot the distributed units in the world because in the remaining two-quarters will come new smartphones with cellular connectivity and that will help to distribute more units. Apple is one of the companies that will launch a smart watch with cellular connectivity, says Canalys.
This week a report was released in which rumors exist the existence of an Apple Watch compatible with networks LTE, that would help to eliminate the dependence that the intelligent clock has to the iPhone.
