Trump to mobilize military to distribute coronavirus vaccine once its ready

(May15, 2020) President Trump says he would “quickly” mobilize the US military to distribute a coronavirus vaccine once it’s ready, focusing first on nursing homes and the elderly who are most vulnerable to the deadly complications of the virus. Trump made the comments during an interview with Maria Bartiromo of Fox Business.

The president said he expects a vaccine to be available by the end of this year, a highly optimistic timeline as many experts, including Coronavirus Task Force member Dr. Anthony Fauci, say it will take at least 12 to 18 months. The virus has killed more than 84,000 Americans so far, as states begin to reopen their economies. The president indicated that he expects that number to continue rising.“We will lose more than 100,000, perhaps, in this country,” the president said in the interview broadcast Thursday.
